Our unusual high-ceilinged room (opposite The Ulster Museum), is brightened with the natural light from the lantern roof and was originally the studio of local artist William Conor (1944-1954).
William Conor (Irish, 1881–1968) is a painter known for his depictions of the working class in Northern Ireland. Born in Belfast, Conor attended the Government School of Design, before beginning his career as a commercial artist. During the First World War, he was commissioned as a war artist, and created sketches of soldiers and munitions workers. Click here to learn more.
